Description

Marcus Washington currently serves as Head of School of Washington Jesuit Academy, an all-boys middle school in Washington, DC. WJA’s mission is to provide a high quality and comprehensive education to young men from communities around the DC metro area. Marcus’ career in education began after he graduated from The College of William and Mary with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Public Policy and Government. In 2004 Marcus taught 6th grade at the Potomac School. During that time, he also completed a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Marymount University. Marcus started teaching History at Gonzaga College High School in 2005. While teaching at Gonzaga Marcus also coached football and track. In 2010, he graduated from George Washington University with an Education Specialist master’s degree. In the fall, Marcus came to Washington Jesuit Academy where he worked as Assistant Headmaster for one year. From the start of the 2011 school year to the spring of 2020, he served as WJA’s Headmaster. In his new role as Washington Jesuit Academy’s Head of School, Marcus will continue to build an education model that addresses the cycle of poverty and replace it with a cycle of hope, determination, and success.
